Chair

Although technically retired, Devon wears many hats! In addition to his role as ZIP's Board Chair, he is a trustee (and was the founding director) of Project Janszoon, Environmental Advisor to the NEXT Foundation, director of the Taranaki Mounga Project and Governance Board member for the Biological Heritage National Science Challenge. He was a founder and Trustee of Project Crimson for a number of years (for which he was awarded a Queens Service Medal in 2015).

During a 30-year career in the New Zealand forest industry Devon held a range of management positions including ten years as Chief Operating Officer at Carter Holt Harvey, Chairman of the NZ Forest Industries Council, Director of the National Association of Forest Industries of Australia and Director of the NZ Forest Research Institute (now Scion).

He is excited by the potential that ZIP's 'Remove and Protect' approach has to change the game for conservation in New Zealand.
